Shinobi GO – 5″ Camera Monitor
The Shinobi GO is a slim, lightweight 5-inch HDR monitor built for creators who need an affordable, high-quality monitoring tool without camera control. It offers a clean, bright viewing experience, essential monitoring tools, and flexible power, all in a compact form factor.
Display & HDR Features
This monitor features a 5.2-inch IPS touchscreen panel at 1920×1080 resolution. Its brightness rating reaches up to 1500 nits, making it usable in daylight lighting conditions. It supports HDR playback (HLG, PQ), as well as AtomHDR mode, which spans over 10 stops of dynamic range. Users can load custom 3D LUTs and preview them on screen to better visualize the final look.
Video Input & Signal Support
Shinobi GO accepts one HDMI 1.4 input, which lets it display UHD 4K up to 30 fps and Full HD up to 1080p60. It also accepts 1080i formats. The monitor supports 8- and 10-bit video with 4:2:2 chroma subsampling from compatible cameras.
Monitoring Tools & Controls
The unit comes equipped with useful exposure and analysis tools including waveform, false color, zebra, histogram, RGB parade, vectorscope, and frame guides covering cinematic and social ratios. It also supports image flip, safe area guides, and zoom modes to assist in precise framing and composition.
Power & Design
This monitor supports power from a single Sony L-series (NP-F) battery or via USB‑C PD input. Interestingly, the USB‑C port can also provide up to 13W pass-through output to other gear such as a camera. The design is extremely thin and portable, with ⅛‑inch locking cable adapters for HDMI and USB‑C to secure connections on set. Mounting is provided via ¼‑20 anti-rotation points.
Lightweight & Rig Friendly
With a weight around 210 g, Shinobi GO is one of the lighter full-featured monitors in its class. Its slim profile makes it easy to mount on rigs, gimbals, or cages without adding bulk. It shares form factor and accessory compatibility with the Shinobi II series, allowing users to reuse hoods, mounts, and cables across monitors.
Use Cases & Value
Shinobi GO suits users who simply want clean, accurate image monitoring without camera control overhead. It’s ideal for content creators, photographers, run-and-gun shoots, and B-roll capture. While it omits camera control and touch-to-focus, its strength lies in affordability, portability, and trusted visual tools for exposure and composition.
With Shinobi GO, creators gain access to a professional-grade monitoring package at a lower price point, without giving up essential visual feedback or bright, accurate display performance.
